Day 1: Jefferson City to Joliet, IL
Our road trip from Jefferson City, Missouri to Joliet, Illinois began with a sense of anticipation and excitement as we finished loading up our car and hitting the road shortly after I got off of work, eager to hit the open highway.
Although darkness quickly presented itself, the rolling hills of Missouri gradually gave way to the flat plains of Illinois.
This part of the trip was originally going to take us to Indianapolis, IN, but Booking.com threw a wrench into that plan when they emailed Shelly that our reservation had been cancelled.
I'll let Shelly give the scoop on that.
Driving through Illinois at night seemed vaguely familiar to driving threw Iowa with the red lights blinking atop the windmills. Can't they just leave the lights on? The blinking can be a bit annoying.
After an evening of driving, we arrived in Joliet around midnight, checked into our hotel and hit the bed.
