1800Free411 (1-800-373-3411) has something over Goog411 (1-800-466-4411) and LiveSearch (1-800-225-5411); you can search residential numbers. You do have to listen to ads, but that is the price you pay for free directory assistance. You can also search via their website.
This does beat the $11 my son ran up this month for directory assistance on his cell phone for 6 numbers. I have clued him in. Hopefully he'll remember.
