Very Little Posting

A large project at work has kept me rather busy, hence the lull in posts. That coupled with the fact that it is also track season.

Missouri Certified Project Manager

I am a Missouri Certified Project Manager again.

Missouri became more serious about Project Management in 2000 and began a State Certification Program, somewhat in line with PMI.

The program is not limited to IT.  In its infancy there were a lot of things yet to be worked out with the program, such as how does one maintain their certification, etc.  Several years went by with changes on what would be required, then the deadline would be put off, then the requirements would change, items that would meet the requirements changed, etc.  As this happened several times, I never bothered with documenting everything as I should have.  Eight years later it all caught up with me.  My re-certification came due and I just had a folder of class/course certificates, etc. Going through to figure out what qualified, did not qualify, and if I would even have have enough units to stay certified would take a good amount of time.  As a result of not getting around to doing that my certification expired.  Yesterday I tested to get my certification back.  The good news is; I passed.

Prison Brews

There is a new micro-brewery in town. It opened Monday morning at 11am. They claim to be the first brewery in Jefferson City since prohibition. It is also a restaurant. I would recommend trying the wood-fired pizza. Although I have heard some of the other items are good as well.

I don't recall the exact names, but they have 6 different beers with Prison related names, something like CellMate Pale, etc. It starts with their lightest colored beer, followed by a honey wheat, a pale ale, a honey brown, an IPA, and then their darkest beer. I like dark beers, but was not a big fan of theirs. There are probably a lot of people that will like it, but to me they taste a bit like New Belgium Brewings 1554 black ale, which in my opinion tastes like someone took a charred piece of wood and dunked it down into a glass of dark beer.

You can order the sampler which has all six beers and there is actually enough in each glass to give you a good taste, not little shot glasses like a lot of places.

The front of the employees t-shirts has the Prison Brews logo and the back has a quote attributed to Ben Franklin:

Beer is proof that God loves us and wants us to be happy.

Senior Rock - Young at Heart

Here is a nice story.

Don't forget those that have aged, as you yourself will be old someday.

Portable Apps

I popped my Sandisk Cruzer Titanium into my computer last night and noticed that it had been a while since I had checked on updates for the portable apps I have on my device. I think every one of them had an update. Of course, the nicest thing about it was, that they were all free apps and the updgrades don't cost anything either, other than the time to put them on.

If you have not tried PortableApps, you might want to take a look.

Sarah wins

From the handful that voted it looks like Sarah and Matt's video beat Jimmy and Ben's video.

Go KU!

Something you won't often hear from a Missourian, but go KU.

KU beat North Carolina tonight to advance to the NCAA Championship game. I thought Roy Williams made a mistake when he went to North Carolina. He is probably thinking the same thing tonight.
