Digital Photos

It is somewhat hard to believe, but in the past year I have taken approximately 5,800 photos. 5,500 of those have been digital. Digital rocks!

MSN Spaces & Firefox

It does work under Firefox :-)

Wait a minute, what does that say on the statistics page? "Note: Information may take up to 10 minutes to be listed."

Does that mean that hits that are captured won't be displayed in the list for up to 10 minutes, or that it is going to take up to 10 minutes just to display the list of statistics?

Always interesting - IT Consolidation

Like many things I can see issues and arguments for both sides of IT Consolidation, so I cannot say that one way is the correct way. I really think it depends on all those involved and the execution, as well as knowing what it is that one is trying to accomplish.

As we hear plans within our state it is always interesting to see what other states are doing. Our Governor-elect has stated that the direction of his administration is IT Consolidation. I just read the article, "Connecticut Gov. Announces Permanent Halt to IT Centralization". Connecticut had started moving towards centralization and now has stopped the efforts and is actually taking steps to return employees that had already been centralized back to the agencies from where they came.

Bloglines Blogroll 2 ways

Interesting. I use Bloglines for my blogroll on this site and when accessing the blogroll via my Bloglines Blog it actually displays the feed within Bloglines rather than take you to each site as it does here. Makes for a nice consistent look and gives one an idea of what using Bloglines for reading feeds is like, but may confuse some that are use to seeing the individuals real site. One can get there from each of the pages by clicking on the site title in blue in the upper left hand corner. It may also be confusing how to get back to where you were. Maybe I should set the homepage link to my Bloglines blog so that one could get back to view it if they want without having to use the back button. At this moment in time clicking the link on it would launch this blog which may even be more confusing.

Emeril's 7 Ps

Emeril

I would have to say that Emeril's 7 Ps would pertain to the IT world too.

What are Emeril's 7 Ps you might ask.

Proper Prior Planning Prevents Piss Poor Performance.

Didn't figure I would hear him say that on FoodTV.

Bloglines

I have raved about it before, but I guess it is time again. Bloglines is pretty cool. Blogger is doing better getting past the problems they were having. I can post again without to much problem, but I looked at the blogging portion of Bloglines today and it was quick. That is the one thing Blogger could really use right now is some speed on posts. It is different and you can clip to your blog from other blogs. Which means even more people easily posting what other people are posting. Hmm. Oh well. You can see my bloglines blog here. Not sure if I'll keep it up or not, but thought it was worth playing around with.

2005 Mustang

A fair number of people hit my site looking for the Mustang. The link I had to Autoweek does not net the pic it use to. Bad AutoWeek! Click on the pic of the 2005 Mustang below to go to AutoWeek's site for some other Mustang pics.

I threw this one in from Ford for those interested in a little of the true vintage Mustang.

7-Zip - Free Compression Utility

7zip Logo

May sound like a football score, but not what I am referring too. I have used it a bit and so far have found find it to be a compression utility that works fine for me (especially when taking the price into consideration - it's free). I am actually running the beta copy. I had 4.12, but notice that 4.13 came out today, so I guess I'll be trying that one out now. It opened files created with WinZip just fine. I even password protected one in WinZip to see how it would handle it and it did just fine. It supports other formats as well.

Check out 7zip yourself (at your own risk).

Under Tools/Options you can associate it for use with zip files, etc.. If you want. Not having a utility at home this is great, although it might take some a bit to get use to.

Now Microsoft!

I mentioned on 11/29 about being able to upload your pics to Wal Mart and go pick them up in an hour. It looks like the next big company joining the fray is none other than Microsoft (along with Fujifilm).

See the CNet Article, "Microsoft, Fujifilm team on digital prints"

Data Hub?

And a data hub is different than what many have tried to do with a data warehouse how?

I guess they'll say Data Hub is a data warehouse in a box.

Well the old 10GB HD gave up Thursday, but things are back in order now and have 10+ times the storage. Yeah.

Update on typos

An update on my typos post.

I received an e-mail at 5:06am this morning informing me that my e-mail had been forwarded to the webmaster of the site for further review.

At 8:20am this morning I received an e-mail from a Senior Writer/Editor that said:

Thanks for your feedback on the bio page.

The changes that you suggested have been made.

Keep us on our toes!

I am impressed by the quick response from such a large organization.

I will probably check the site some today as taking a look showed that none of the changes were reflected on the site at this point. I am guessing that the changes have been made and just haven't been replicated out yet.

Typos

I actually read all of the bios of the ten InsideLotus bloggers. I noticed five mistakes, typos, errors or whatever you want to call them. I used the contact us form to note the items I saw and submitted it with the Website Feedback category. Even though I have typos, grammtical errors, and so forth, I figured it might be worth it to update a professional website. Even the one simply missing a space between sentences.

What is with all of the bands doing Covers? It seems that I hear remakes of more old songs on the radio than I do new ones anymore.

Firefox

Okay, I did it. I put Firefox on. I really like the tab feature. Hmm, kind of like working in Notes.

Fast posts

The e-mail posts are going quicker tonight than what I usually see.
Then again, it could just be because it is so darn late and no one is
posting. I am headed to bed. No pics posted. Hello and Bloggerbot
not having anything to do with it tonight. Darn it.

Frustration builds

I have had a bit better luck with Blogger today, but each time I try
to send pics via Hello today the old Bloggerbot goes offline. Ugh!

All I want for Christmas is for all things associated with my blogs to
work. :-)

Okay, maybe that is not all I want.

Notes/Domino Policies

We rolled out our first policy with 6.52 at the beginning of the month. Simply requiring a password interval change and password length, which I have been trying to get direction on for some time. I asked the person within our CIO's office about it along time ago and did not receive any direction. Those duties were transferred to another individual when they were hired and I have asked him for direction, so that we implemented them as their office wished. A couple of months this individual came to me stating that he was talking to a business manager that stated some of the individuals in his area using Notes had never changed their passwords. Ugh!

I also explained that when the system was rolled out and several times since that it was recommended that individuals change their password and we put up a page on the Intranet walking them through the process as well as e-mail and pointing out the help instructions. He then said, "You mean they have the ability to change it?". Yes, but that doesn't mean that they do.

Anyway, after all of that I finally got a little bit of direction and we have now added a password change interval and password length requirement in line with other systems via policies on Notes/Domino 6.52. So far, so good.

e-Pro Feeds

e-Pro Logo

I have subscribed to the Lotus Informer, Developer Tips, and Admin Tips on the e-Pro subscription page, and even though I filter them to a folder, I want a feed. I know when things were relaunched there was mention of RSS feeds. Am I overlooking it? Anyone else wanting this feature?
