Free Office Suite

You have probably heard of Open Office, but did you know that IBM offers a Free Office Suite based on Open Office. It is called Lotus Symphony.

With these, as well as all of the other free online services (e.g. ThinkFree, Google Docs, ZoHo, etc.) why do so many organizations struggling financially continue to pay for Office Suites, usually Microsoft Office?

Is it really costing anymore to support the free ones than the paid solutions. The paid solutions often require additional payment for support as well. Are people getting their monies worth?

I think it would be interesting to see actual unbiased cost comparisons between similar organizations, one with the free solution and one with the paid.

Have you ever heard of SSuite Office?

They have a whole range of free office suites and software applications for download. Best of all is that their software does not run on Java or .NET.
